Son's Sonnet on Mother's day

Shall I compare thee to this lovely day?
You are more clement and superbly bright
The temperamental sprites can mar this May,
The sun too quickly fades into the night.

Sometimes too strong the breath of heaven blows,
Or else the sky is veiled by gloomy cloud
And every life from lively surely slows
To Chance and Time is all of Nature bowed

But thy eternal essence will not fade
Nor lose the fondness we all hold for you,
For all the times to us you've given aid
Ring clearly through the many things we do

Thus now I have but one more thing to say
You are the sun that brightens every day
